“Academic Burnout”: A Danger Sign That High School Students Should Know Before It’s Too Late

School life is not just about having fun, but also about the pressure of exams, studying, and increasing expectations every year. Many students may unknowingly experience what is called “Academic Burnout”. If they don’t notice and take care of themselves, it can negatively affect both their studies and mental health in the long run.

🔎 What is Academic Burnout?

Academic burnout is a condition in which students feel mentally exhausted, don’t want to study, don’t have the energy to study, or even don’t want to go to school. It is often caused by chronic stress from studying, exams, or pressure around them. “If not treated promptly, the symptoms may develop into chronic stress or depression.”

🚨 Warning Signs That You Are “Burnout”

Check yourself immediately! If you experience several of these symptoms at the same time, it may be time to take a break.

Waking up and feeling tired immediately
Lack of motivation to study
No matter how much you read, you can’t remember
Don’t feel like talking to anyone
Increased anxiety, irritability
Want to be alone, avoid society
Insomnia or not feeling rested after sleeping

⚠️ Causes of this condition

Behind the scenes of "burnout" often come from many factors, such as

Too much housework, having to submit urgent work
Difficult to understand or not good at subject content
Studying in subjects you don't like
Pressure from parents or teachers
Difficult relationships with classmates

✅ How to cope and prevent "burnout"

Take good care of yourself because "good learning starts with a ready heart". Simple techniques that high school students can try:

Manage your time - Don't study all day. Take time to rest
Find a quiet corner - Arrange your desk as a relaxation area
Get enough sleep - To allow the hormones in the body to work well
Talk to friends or family members - Just venting sometimes makes your heart feel much lighter
Don't force it. If you can't handle it - Always ask for help from teachers, seniors, or experts

If you feel that your symptoms are not getting better or you start to feel depressed for too long, you should see a psychiatrist for assessment and advice.

💬 To students and parents

It's not wrong if we feel tired of studying As long as we are aware and dare to take a break, taking care of ourselves is not a weakness. It is about preparing ourselves… for the day we have to get up again.

Finally, if you are preparing for the TCAS, NETSAT or medical school entrance exams and feel exhausted from studying, we invite you to “talk” with seniors or The Act team. Because here… we don’t let students fight alone.
